The play at a glance

Open the doors of an imaginary armor workshop

Gold armor panels, deep red limbs and a round chest detail give this Iron Man figure its unmistakable silhouette. The large launcher on one forearm adds a mechanical shape to the suit. Imagine the figure hosting a workshop tour, explaining three inventions to a curious visitor.

Read the armor like a character portrait

Start with the mask: its narrow eyes and gold faceplate make a small focal point above the broad chest. Follow the gold panels down the torso, then look at the red arms and boots. Those contrasts give a child drawing the character a useful set of shapes to choose from.

Toysit’s earlier account describes a motorized projectile launcher, lights, sounds and spoken phrases associated with the Mark 42 armor. That full description remains in the historical section. For an imagined workshop visit, the figure’s appearance can do the scene-setting while players provide the voice and inventions.

Try an armor-workshop open day

Set out a stationary, unloaded figure with adult help, or draw an Iron Man portrait on paper. Add three handwritten display labels. This original activity is a tour told through questions and answers.

  1. Helmet desk. Label a drawing “helmet.” Invent a friendly welcome message that might appear inside it. Perhaps the helmet reminds its wearer to introduce everyone on the team.
  2. Chest-light exhibit. Draw a circle beside a “chest light” label. Give its imaginary colors three meanings: ready to help, thinking of a plan and mission complete. These meanings belong to your story.
  3. Helping-hand station. Sketch an invented tool for an ordinary problem—a mitten finder, a library-book sorter or a device that carries umbrellas to a rainy doorway. Explain what it would do.
  4. Visitor interview. One player gives the tour; another asks a question at each station. Finish with a comment in a paper visitors’ book: “My favorite invention was…”

For a second visit, change one tool and invite the visitor to suggest an improvement. A single player can write both sides of the conversation in speech bubbles.

Make a miniature exhibition

Arrange the three labels around the portrait or figure and give the workshop a name. The labels can become the pages of a small catalog, each with a drawing, a title and one sentence describing its imagined purpose. Keep the toy still throughout the tour; the storytelling uses the display and its audience.

The historical record

Original Toysit coverage

The complete earlier product account and commentary are preserved below as historical coverage.

Sonic blaster

Even the toughest enemy isn't going to be able to stand up to the massive firepower of this incredible Sonic Blasting Iron Man figure. He can rapid-fire a barrage of missiles at the enemies of justice with full-auto motorized missile blasting and leave a smoking wreck behind. As he charges into the fray, the lights and sounds as he says Targeting systems go or Mark 42 armor engage will make the Iron Man action all the more intense.

Iron Man 3 is the third installment in the Iron Man film series, following Tony Stark (Iron Man) as he grapples with the trauma and anxiety after the events of "The Avengers." When a new terrorist known as the Mandarin launches a series of bombings, Stark's world is torn apart, leading him on a quest for vengeance and redemption. As he investigates, Stark discovers a connection between the Mandarin and an experimental soldier regeneration program called Extremis. Stripped of his usual technological resources and facing formidable foes, Stark must rely on his ingenuity and instincts to confront the threats and uncover the truth. The film delves deeper into Stark's character, exploring his vulnerabilities and resilience, while also showcasing spectacular action sequences and technological marvels.
