The play at a glance

A city seen at two very different scales

The cover art fills the page with towering creatures and bright streaks of color. Defenders of the Core carries that change of scale into play: a human Brawler explores the city, then a giant Bakugan enters the battle. A street that looked like a route past guards becomes a landscape of landmarks to watch and defend.

Check an older Wii Remote strap first

The CPSC’s 2006 replacement program concerns Wii Remote wrist straps with a 0.6 mm connecting cord. If an older controller has an affected strap, contact Nintendo for replacement guidance before movement play; the paper activity below works while that is being resolved. The notice’s replacement straps use a 1.0 mm cord. Current remedy availability has not been confirmed. This is an accessory notice, not a recall of the game.

Explore, prepare and protect a landmark

In the Wii booklet, Brawler exploration involves finding a route through occupied areas while avoiding guards and their surveillance. The battle view changes the job: watch opponents, crystals and the buildings assigned for protection. A landmark’s health gauge gives the player something important to follow beyond the nearest rival.

Before a battle, the briefing menu lets the player choose a Bakugan, equip Ability cards and spend Core Energy on upgrades. The Wii controls use a Remote and Nunchuk; follow the matching instructions for their handling. Battle Arena offers Duel, Free For All and Destruction Battle, with one or two players even when several Bakugan appear in the fight.

Draw three city landmark caretakers

Make a small city on paper with three places that matter to its residents. Perhaps there is a clock tower, a glass-roofed garden and a station with a very tall sign. Add one oversized friendly helper with a distinctive outline—a round body, long arms or broad wings.

Give every landmark a peaceful job card. The clock tower needs a new face painted; the garden needs a welcome sign; the station needs directions for a lost visitor. Draw arrows showing the helper’s route and tell what happens at each stop.

Now add a resident’s viewpoint beside one building. A tiny shopkeeper might see only the helper’s enormous feet, while someone at the clock tower looks straight across at its face. Tell the same visit from both viewpoints. These invented caretaking scenes extend the idea of scale and landmarks into an original drawing story.

Video game for multiple platforms and strategy gameplay

Battle strategy video game available for Nintendo Wii Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Editions: standard or limited edition with action figure. Real-time gameplay to protect the world's life forces. Unlock new levels and characters.

Bakugan: Defenders of the Core is a video game based on the popular Bakugan Battle Brawlers anime and toy franchise. In contrast to the series' traditional gameplay which mirrors the strategic card game, "Defenders of the Core" offers a more action-oriented experience, blending real-time battles with adventure elements.

In the game, players assume the role of a custom character who joins the Battle Brawlers to stop the evil Vexos from taking over Earth and destroying the interdimensional force known as the "Core." The Vexos have imprisoned the Bakugan in the alternate universe, causing them to become colossal in size, leading to epic battles amidst cityscapes.

The gameplay involves navigating large arenas, battling with giant Bakugan, and using a combination of special moves and strategies to defeat opponents. Additionally, players can collect and upgrade Bakugan, enhancing their stats and unlocking powerful abilities. As players progress, they unravel a narrative that intertwines with the main Bakugan storyline, battling familiar faces from the series and working to protect the world from impending doom. The game offers a unique take on the Bakugan universe, merging the strategic essence of the original concept with immersive action-packed gameplay.

Sources and editorial notes

The original North American Wii booklet scan, PDF pages 1–9, was read and visually inspected, including control and screen diagrams; the remaining French/legal material was not treated as a full-booklet review. The new mechanics here follow that Wii edition. ESRB’s console/PSP record is Everyone 10+ for Fantasy Violence; it does not cover the DS version. The cropped original artwork lacks a platform strip. The archived limited-edition figure offer and broader story wording remain attributed historical reporting. Old unlock-code offers are not current availability claims. The city-caretaker activity is original to Toysit; no physical testing was performed.
