The play at a glance

A conversation beside the game

The black band curves behind the two ear pads, while a narrow silver boom reaches forward from one side. A small control sits along the cable below. It is easy to picture a pair of players exchanging a useful clue: where to turn, what they have noticed or which landmark should come next.

Give the next clue a clear shape

The two earpieces and forward microphone give listening and speaking distinct places. The period Logitech guide names a ratcheting boom and a cable control for volume and microphone mute. A conversation can be as simple as one person noticing a doorway and another saying which path reaches it.

For an imaginative activity, try giving the information in small pieces. A listener can ask for one missing detail, and the speaker can change a vague phrase into a useful landmark. Ordinary room voices work well for the paper game below.

Try navigator and sketcher

One person privately draws an island with three landmarks: a crescent-shaped beach, a tall tree and a round pond. The other person begins with blank paper. The navigator describes one landmark per sentence, using its shape and position to help the sketcher place it.

Pause after each sentence for a question. “Is the pond nearer the tree or the beach?” is enough to change the whole picture. Keep the island hidden until all three landmarks are drawn, then compare the maps. Enjoy the differences and choose one sentence that could be made clearer.

Swap roles with a new island. Invent a friendly phrase for checking a direction, such as “Let me say that back.” Finish by naming the island and adding a shared destination that appears on both maps. A written-clue version works too: pass one short note at a time.

Match the connections before listening

The 2004 guide describes separate microphone and headphone plugs. Check a surviving headset’s actual connectors and the computer’s inputs before use, and begin with the volume low. Its historical Windows menu instructions belong to that period; the paper island needs only a companion, pencils and a place to draw.

Logitech Precision delivers good voice and audio quality through its comfortable open-air behind-the-head design

With more games featuring voice capabilities, real-time communication is key for online gaming. In 2004, the Logitech Precision PC Gaming Headset provided quality audio technology and stylish design at an extremely affordable price. A unique open-air and behind-the-head design was comfortable during long sessions.

For both casual and intense gamers, the 40mm neodymium stereo headphone drivers offer crisp audio, while the headset's noise-canceling microphone blocks out background noise to deliver clear voice quality.

"There are more PC games on the market that support voice than ever before, making headsets almost a required accessory for serious gamers," said Jef Holove of Logitech. "Our newest headset enhances the overall experience, allowing gamers to take advantage of true-to-life sound for superior gaming performance, while offering the comfort, style and quality for which Logitech is known."

The new PC gaming headset also featured an adjustable boom for optimal positioning and easy access to the in-line volume controls during the heat of battle. These features, combined with the dynamic stereo sound, made for a completely immersive experience in both games and music.
