The play at a glance

A tiny cast with somewhere to go

A pink animal, a purple figure with a long yellow pattern, a dark skeleton and a broad-faced clown: the original Mighty Beanz photograph looks like a cast waiting for its entrance. Each character fits its face and costume onto a rounded capsule. Imagine the whole assortment arriving at a very small party, one unusual guest at a time.

Faces that suggest a story

The curved bodies leave little room for scenery, so the printed details do much of the storytelling. A grin can suggest an excited guest; a skeleton design might inspire a visitor to a costume party. Turn a character in your hand and choose one detail to introduce. Players can supply their own names, voices and destinations.

The earlier Toysit account describes rolling and flipping play as well as collecting and swapping. That gives the characters two kinds of appeal: watching their movement and getting to know the little figures. A small lineup can become a waiting room, a parade or the audience for the next arrival.

Try a bean arrival card

This Toysit activity combines an ordinary gentle roll with a short character introduction.

  1. Choose one character and look for a visible detail to use in its announcement. “The clown has arrived for the picnic” is enough to begin.
  2. On a contained tabletop play surface suitable for the toy, give the character a gentle roll and let it stop. Imagine where that arrival has taken it.
  3. Draw a destination card beside the play area: a tiny station, a party door or a moon hotel. Add the character’s greeting.
  4. Let another player invent the next guest. At the end, read the cards as the opening scene of a story.

Keep paper and drawing materials beside the play area. A drawing-only version can give every pictured character a destination. For an actual collection, follow its package age and small-part guidance and keep the capsules intact.
