Fisher-Price PowerTouch Baby
A shared picture book with touch-responsive words, sounds and music, plus an original picture-and-echo activity for Fisher-Price PowerTouch Baby.

The play at a glance
A picture, a sound, and someone beside you
The original photograph catches a small shared moment: a child reaches toward an open picture book while an adult looks on. PowerTouch Baby adds recorded words, sounds and music to that familiar scene. A picture can become a place to stop, listen and say hello before turning the page.Pictures that answer a touch
The G7823 guide describes Story, Explore and Surprise choices. Words can be read aloud; touching an illustrated object can bring its name, a short description or a sound. Textured spots and openings add places for a finger to investigate. The base also has musical pictures and note keys for play with the book removed, as shown in the separate music supplement.
For a shared reading visit, an adult can settle the unit on a flat surface with the correct book secured and its pages lying flat. Follow the matching book instructions and demonstrate a light, single-finger touch, keeping other hands and arms clear of the page. Set the volume comfortably and let the child's interest decide which picture deserves another visit.
Try a picture-and-echo visit
This Toysit activity adds a tiny conversation to a picture. Point out one animal or object that catches the child's attention. Wait, then use an appropriate documented page interaction and listen together. When the toy finishes, supply a greeting of your own: perhaps the pictured bird says, “Welcome to my branch!” The greeting is your story contribution.
Revisit that picture with a new greeting, or let it say goodbye as you turn the page. A child can join with a look, a gesture or a sound; there is no answer to complete before moving on. With an ordinary board book, the adult supplies both the picture's sound and its greeting. One favorite illustration is enough for the whole visit.
The historical record
Original Toysit coverage
The original product account and commentary are preserved below as historical coverage.
Reading system from Fisher Price includes learning activities, songs, playful music, sounds, textures, and stories
Now it is easier than ever to introduce little ones to the joys of learning. The Power Touch Baby system brings books to life with the gentlest touch of tiny fingers, so it's easy to use. It's also fun, with friendly characters, playful music and sounds, fun textures, charming stories, and lots of activities. There's music on every page, with over thirty-five learning activities and hundreds of songs.
Interactive books with sounds and music offer a multi-sensory experience that goes beyond the conventional act of reading. These books engage children on multiple levels, capturing their attention and making the reading experience more enjoyable and memorable. Sounds can bring a story to life, providing realistic effects that accompany the text—like the roar of a lion in a jungle adventure or the honk of a car in a city-based story. Music can set the emotional tone, adding an extra layer of engagement. These interactive elements encourage children to interact with the content in a hands-on way, pressing buttons to trigger sounds or listening to a musical snippet that enhances the story. Such interactive features can be especially beneficial for young children who are still developing their reading skills, as they make the process more dynamic and engaging.
Sources and editorial notes
Research follows Fisher-Price model G7823 and all six US/international guide files, including the music supplements. The Getting Started photograph matches the adult-and-child scene retained here, though the crop alone does not identify the open book. The main guide identifies Baby Animals as the included book, usable without a cartridge; additional books use matching cartridges. The historical activity/song totals and reading-benefit claims remain attributed to the earlier account, rather than independently verified totals or outcomes. This is document and image research, with an original editorial activity; no physical testing.
