The play at a glance

Rooms to arrange and stories to move through

The older page describes a two-story house with a porch, balcony, elevator and furnished rooms. Its interest lies in moving dolls between those spaces and arranging the small objects that make each room part of a story.

The retained image shows the house opened out. The full historical descriptions remain below, with the old stock advice clearly separated from the information readers can use now.

Think about the house while it is open

A fold-open house needs room for both the structure and the player. Look at the access to the upstairs rooms, the space in front of the furniture and where the doors and porch sit. Allow room to reach inside rather than judging fit from the closed shell alone.

For a simple first scene, furnish one room and choose what happens there. Moving a figure from the kitchen to the bedroom or out onto the porch can build a story without using every accessory at once.

What to compare on an older house

  • Structure: identify the floors, roof sections, doors and room connections. Ask about missing or repaired pieces.
  • Moving features: check the elevator and other mechanisms directly rather than relying on the phrase “working” in an old description.
  • Furniture: compare the actual included pieces with the matching edition’s contents. The original paragraphs list furniture, fabric items and small accessories.
  • Space: measure the particular house both open and closed. The approximate dimensions in the old copy are not a substitute for those measurements.

The name alone does not identify an edition

Use the product number on the toy or packaging when looking for assembly directions or missing parts. A house offered under a similar Dream House name may have a different layout and different fittings.

This article retains the original page’s detail without treating its old stock warning, accessory count or suggested alternative as current purchasing guidance.

Using all the money that she's banked away over the years (putting in long hours as a doctor, an astronaut, and a pinch-hitter for the Yankees), Barbie has finally invested in some real estate: the Barbie Deluxe Dream House, a well-appointed two-story Victorian with a sea-foam-green slate roof and--of course--pink trim. While not overly generous on the square footage (it's just a one bedroom, one bath, after all, folding out to roughly 27 by 32 inches), this place has extras to die for: a bedroom terrace, a spacious porch with swing, a sink and vanity that flips down to become a tub, and--perhaps best of all--an elevator that really works. On top of that, the Dream House comes fully furnished with appropriately dreamy accouterments, including curtains, cushions, and a bedspread, a bed, a couch, a table, chairs, a built-in armoire and kitchen setup, and even a dog!

Barbie is living in the lap of luxury in her beautifully decorated house, every inch of which is a dream come true. From the kitchen to the sitting room and upstairs bedroom, this 2-story playset exhibits Barbie's great taste. Wicker furniture with real fabric upholstery is Barbie's décor of choice, and she even has a real working elevator! Your child can play with the house open to reveal its interior, or close the house to reveal its fantasy façade. Rounded towers and balconies give the house a fairy-tale appeal, and it's enchanting in a shade of cream with pale pink and seafoam green trim. Barbie loves to show off her house, so be sure to invite all of her friends over for hours of imaginative play. The set includes 42 furniture and decorative pieces. Dolls not included.

Sources and editorial notes

The standalone original page has no recorded publication date. It referenced retail identifier B00002SWF2 and suggested Barbie Radio House, B00004U3HS, as an alternative. Those historical Amazon links are retained in the private source snapshot, not offered as current buying advice. The missing root image was replaced with the existing matching dream-house.jpg in the same-site playset folder. Mattel’s instructions directory was checked, but an exact manual match and the condition of any individual house have not been established.
