The play at a glance

A small stage for a garden recital

A pink barre and a long footprint mat give Bella Dancerella Home Ballet Studio the look of a little rehearsal corner. The original picture shows children gathered around the set, ready to turn following along into a performance of their own. A homemade recital program can extend that idea into a story with a beginning, a change and a final bow.

A mat, a barre and a follow-along story

The earlier Toysit account describes a video-led set with a two-sided mat and step-by-step routines. A contemporary government description of item 35078 likewise identifies a pink footprint mat, a plastic barre and a 30-minute DVD. Together, these props give a child places to look and a setting to imagine: the mat suggests the rehearsal floor, while the barre supplies the studio scenery.

Keep that lightweight toy barre as a prop; it is not a support for hanging, climbing or bearing body weight. An adult should check an existing set and its own instructions before use. For the activity below, a comfortable seat and a few drawings are all the stage needs.

Try a garden recital program

This original Toysit activity turns three garden pictures into a tiny performance. Fold a sheet of paper into a program and draw a seed, a leaf and a flower. Give the recital a title such as “The Garden Wakes Up.” Invite a partner to announce each scene.

  1. The seed waits. Bring relaxed hands together in a small shape. Hold the moment while the announcer quietly says the seed’s name.
  2. A leaf appears. Open one hand in any comfortable direction, as if a leaf has found a patch of light. The announcer can describe an imaginary morning breeze.
  3. The flower greets its visitors. Open both hands like petals, then give the audience a friendly wave.

These are invented storytelling gestures, so each performer can choose a comfortable size and pace while seated or standing. Add a butterfly drawing for an encore, or swap the cards to tell a different garden story. The person introducing the scenes can be just as expressive as the person performing them.

The historical record

Original Toysit coverage

The complete earlier product account and commentary are preserved below as historical coverage.

Mat, bar, slippers, and 30-minute dance-along instructional video that teaches basic dance routines

This exclusive learning set is a home ballet studio for girls. Now young girls can practice their dance routines or follow along with the step by step instructional video at home. The ballet bar is simple to assemble and take down for easy storage. Girls can practice or learn five step-by-step basic ballet routines as outlined on the two-sided mat. This set also includes ballet slippers.

Sources and editorial notes

The original image and both complete SSI descriptions are retained. U.S. Customs ruling NY L80149, October 14, 2004, describes the item 35078 sample’s plastic barre, two-sided mat and DVD; its text was reviewed through a mirror because the official page did not expose the ruling text in retrieval. The sample’s barre is described as unsuitable for supporting weight. A matching assembly manual was not recovered. The archive’s slippers and five-routine claims remain attributed historical details; pictured costumes do not establish package contents. No physical testing was performed.
