Cranium Cadoo
Connect creative challenges with a four-in-a-row goal, understand SOLO and COMBO turns, and identify older sets carefully.

The play at a glance
Make a clue, solve a challenge, choose a space
Cadoo combines drawing, acting, sculpting and puzzles with a small board: completed challenges can earn places toward four in a row. A turn can involve your own answer or a clue for the other players to guess.
The original photograph shows the tin carrying-case version. The explanation below identifies the later Hasbro rule sheet it uses, and the older-set note covers the specific 2008 die recall.
Read the card before starting the timer
In Hasbro’s 2008 rules, the die selects SOLO or COMBO. Read the card, prepare for its task, then start the timer. One card completes a turn.
A successful SOLO earns one token on an empty space. For a successful COMBO, the clue-giver places a token and the correct guesser stacks theirs on it; both can use that space. Nobody guessing correctly means no placement.
The goal is four in a row. The winning line must be completed through a SOLO, not a COMBO. The sheet also gives a full-board fallback and a team option for more than four players. Check your own sheet before applying these rules to an older tin.
Choose a clear clue over an elaborate one
For a drawing or sculpture, start with the feature someone needs to recognize. A simple outline may communicate more than a carefully finished object. Follow the card’s limits on speaking, gestures and materials.
When guessing is part of the challenge, leave the answer hidden from the guessers. Read enough of the directions to know who acts and who guesses; do not assume every card lets teammates confer. An unscored practice challenge is an optional way to learn that distinction.
Keep Cadoo separate from Cranium
Cadoo’s token grid makes the next placement visible. The larger Cranium game moves teams around a route and uses different category and finishing rules. Owning one does not supply the instructions for the other.
Lay out the actual set’s cards, tokens and tools before beginning. For older or mixed sets, compare them with that edition’s inventory. Keep decoder materials and challenge cards together so an apparently complete board is not missing what makes a task playable.
Check an older Cadoo die before play
The January 17, 2008 CPSC recall concerns excessive lead in die paint in sets with lot numbers 2007195 through 2007244. It describes an orange cardboard box with the seven-digit lot number beneath the plastic tray.
Check the actual set, including any mixed or replacement parts. This tin photograph alone cannot establish that a die is affected or exempt. Stop using an affected die and follow the official notice. Hasbro’s current recall page provides a Cadoo consumer-support route; ask there about identification and the remedy currently available. An old promise of a replacement should not be treated as confirmation of current stock.

The full original tin-case description and later essay remain below. The essay’s general claims about teamwork, humming, all-age suitability and learning are not a substitute for Cadoo’s own rules. Individual play and the published team option are distinguished in the new explanation.
