Dinosaurs Puzzle
Explore the dinosaur shapes, plants and rocky scenery of the green-box 48-piece floor puzzle, then make a sketchbook of picture clues.

The play at a glance
Follow a dinosaur through a landscape of pieces
Dinosaurs stretch across the scene on the green box in Toysit’s original photograph. Long necks, broad bodies and pointed tails stand among plants and rocky ground. Two loose jigsaw pieces in front show how a small patch of the picture becomes part of a much larger scene.
The box reads “48 Jumbo Pieces,” matching the original account’s count. A player can begin with a recognizable body shape or a patch of greenery, then follow its colors and lines into neighboring pieces. Once the picture comes together, it offers plenty of starting points for an imaginary expedition.
Sort by details you can see
Spread the pieces picture-side up on a clear surface and choose one feature to follow. A long curved neck might continue across several pieces; a patch of green leaves might form another small group. Keep the box picture nearby as a reference.
Try describing a piece before placing it: “There is a brown curve beside a green patch.” Another player can look for the next part of that curve. Rotate pieces gently and compare both the painted lines and the cut edges as you work.
Give an expedition a route
Imagine visiting the finished picture with a sketchbook. Where would your fictional expedition pause first: beside a tall neck, near a rocky ridge or at a leafy patch? Choose a detail because it catches your eye, and draw a simple outline of it on paper.
Give each stop an invented name, such as Long-Neck Lookout or Leafy Corner. A second player can follow your drawings to find the stops in the picture. Together, tell a story about what the expedition notices along the way.
Go on a dinosaur detail expedition
- Choose three visible clues, such as a long neck, a ridge and some greenery.
- Sketch each clue on its own paper card.
- Invite another player to locate the details in the assembled puzzle or its box picture.
- Arrange the cards into a route and name the three stops.
- Tell a short imaginary expedition that visits them in order.
This original Toysit activity is a picture hunt and storytelling invitation. A dinosaur drawing or book illustration can provide the scene too.
