What Will Little Bear Wear?
Discover Kidpower’s What Will Little Bear Wear? talking bear, with two hats, a yellow coat and sea-and-snow prompts, plus an original weather-card story activity.

The play at a glance
Two hats and a whole day to imagine
Little Bear wears a bright yellow coat and a dark cap, with a second hat waiting beside him. A glimpse of red at the collar adds another cheerful color. This Kidpower bear makes getting dressed the beginning of an outing: choose what to wear, then imagine a trip to the seaside or a day in the snow.
A wardrobe that suggests a destination
The yellow coat is the brightest part of Little Bear’s outfit. His dark trousers and cap give it a strong outline, while the extra hat makes changing the look part of the play. The comparison photographs show the red top underneath, along with two differently shaped dark hats.
Imagine Little Bear preparing to visit a harbor. A cap becomes part of the character he chooses for the day, and the yellow coat suggests a breezy walk beside the boats. On another outing, a snowy setting can give the same familiar bear a different adventure.
Each hand starts a different kind of story
The printed Kidpower instructions assign sea-adventure phrases to Little Bear’s left hand and snowy-day phrases to his right. A squeeze introduces the theme. Toysit’s original account adds particular subjects: ships, pirates and treasure maps on one side, snow angels and chilly weather on the other.
The original account also describes a growl and giggle when the tummy is pressed. These sounds can punctuate a player’s narration: a little laugh after a discovery, or a greeting as another character joins the outing. Players invent the events and dialogue between the recorded responses.
Make dressing the first scene
Try giving the story two parts. First, Little Bear gets ready and chooses a destination. Then he arrives and discovers something: a boat with a bright flag, a trail through pretend snow or a friend waiting with a story to share.
A change in the imagined weather can add a small surprise. Clouds might clear to reveal the harbor, or falling snow could turn the path into a white landscape. Describe the change and let the bear decide what to explore next.
Pick a weather card
- Draw sunshine, clouds, rain and snow on four paper cards.
- Choose a card and draw an outfit for Little Bear or another character.
- Make two story pictures: getting ready and arriving somewhere.
- Add one discovery at the destination.
- Choose another weather card and tell how the outing changes.
This original activity works with the bear, another dress-up toy or drawings of a traveler and their clothes.
The historical record
Original Toysit coverage
Toysit’s original description of the bear’s clothes and responses, followed by its general teddy-bear passage, is preserved below.
What Will Little Bear Wear by Kidpower
Little Bear is a soft, cuddly 16-inch teddy, and he's ready to play in the snow or at the beach. Pressing his left paw produces talk about ships, pirates, and treasure maps. The button concealed in his right paw is keyed to a different set of phrases about making snow angels and getting cold. He comes equipped for either locale, with a plush top and shorts, two different hats, and a rain slicker. His voice is cutely childish rather than bear-like, although he does growl and giggle when his tummy is pressed.
Collecting teddy bears is a hobby that transcends age, offering both children and adults a source of comfort, nostalgia, and joy. For children, teddy bears serve as cuddly companions that provide emotional security and a sense of friendship. The tactile experience of hugging a soft teddy bear can be immensely comforting. For adults, collecting teddy bears can be an enjoyable journey down memory lane, often evoking fond recollections of childhood. Collectors may also appreciate the craftsmanship, history, and unique characteristics that each teddy bear brings. Limited editions, antiques, or bears from different countries add a sense of excitement and adventure to the collecting experience. Whether displayed on a shelf or used for snuggles, each teddy bear in a collection has its own story to tell, making the act of collecting them both fulfilling and fun.
