The play at a glance

A whole castle for one little pony

Pink Sunsparkle peeks out from a balcony between two purple towers. A heart-shaped arch rises above her, and a tall pink crown tops one turret. Celebration Castle turns a pony’s home into a place to explore, with rooms to visit, surprises to discover and a party waiting to happen.

Follow the hearts around the rooms

The castle opens into furnished spaces, from a bedroom to a kitchen. Pink Sunsparkle’s logo-marked foot contains a magnet: placing that foot on the staircase heart starts lights and music. Other heart-marked spots open the toy box or flip the stovetop to reveal a sink with a movable faucet.

These little discoveries give a player reasons to move from room to room. Imagine the pony finding a party accessory in the toy box, stopping in the kitchen to prepare a pretend treat and then greeting the first guest. Each stop can contribute something to the celebration.

Up the tower and onto the dance floor

A player moves the gondola elevator up and down the tower and turns the staircase’s spinning disk to give the pony a dance. The balloon suggests another pretend journey above the castle. Furniture and small accessories supply places to dress, rest and get ready.

The contrast between the outside and inside is part of the appeal. Toysit’s photograph shows a grand purple facade with tall windows and a balcony. Behind it, the rooms give that grand building the ordinary details of a home. A pony might have an exciting balloon trip followed by a quiet moment at the vanity.

Choose a reason to celebrate

Try inventing a particular occasion: a welcome party for a visiting pony, the opening of a castle garden or a dance after a long journey. Give the guest one small thing to share, such as a story about the trip or a picture of a faraway place.

Then choose three moments for the celebration. The pony could welcome everyone at the entrance, show them a favorite room and lead the final dance. Players supply the guests’ voices and the events that connect each part of the setting.

Make a castle invitation

  1. Draw the castle or a home of your own invention on a folded card.
  2. Name one guest and give the celebration a reason.
  3. Choose a room for the guest to visit.
  4. Add three little pictures for the party’s beginning, middle and ending.
  5. Use the invitation to tell the story as the guest arrives.

This original activity works with the playset, another miniature home or a castle drawn on paper.
