Megatech B-2 flying-wing model

The Megatech B-2 model’s broad flying-wing silhouette inspires an unpowered map-and-survey activity, with a scoped battery-recall note.

The play at a glance

An unusual wing becomes the center of a map

The pale gray B-2 model spreads into a broad, angular wing, with dark markings tracing its surface. A two-stick transmitter sits alongside it in the small original photograph. Its shape invites a different kind of aircraft story: imagine following that wide silhouette across a hand-drawn landscape, making a survey of rivers, hills and changing weather.

A battery notice for older Megatech equipment

CPSC recall 02-546 concerns certain light-green, seven-cell 8.4 V NiMH battery packs supplied with Megatech Skyliner aircraft and also sold separately. CPSC reports a risk of arcing and overheating and directs owners to stop using the affected packs. The original B-2 photograph does not establish which battery accompanied this model, so a shared voltage alone cannot settle applicability.

Check the notice’s identification details before using an older pack; leave an unidentified pack unused while its status is checked. The notice records the remedy announced in 2002, whose present availability has not been confirmed. The paper activity below offers the same interest in aircraft shapes and journeys with no powered model required.

Try a silhouette survey

Draw a broad aircraft outline inspired by the photograph on a small card. On a larger sheet, make a map with a starting point, two observation places and a return point. Add a winding river or a hill that casts a long imaginary shadow.

Move the card across the map and narrate a weather-survey journey. At the first observation place, describe the clouds. At the second, draw a tiny symbol for the landscape below. “A crescent of trees beside the river” can become the entry in your paper mission log.

Invite a companion to be the map reader. They can add one discovery to the return report, then design the next route. A broad wing, a conventional plane and a pretend passenger aircraft can each get their own paper journey; compare the shapes and the stories they suggest.

Sources and editorial notes

The original account names Megastealth and describes a 48-inch span, elevons, a geared motor and an 8.4 V NiMH pack. The pictured label and pack cannot be identified from the small image; the exact Megastealth revision and matching guide remain unconfirmed. A later Megastealth II review is a discovery lead, not an operating source for this unit. The preserved Mabuchi history is earlier commentary, not new technical verification. The map activity is original to Toysit. No physical testing or battery inspection was performed.
