The play at a glance

See the singer become part of the picture

In the original photograph, the singer holds the microphone beside a television showing her own image. A small camera sits above the screen. That visible connection gives the performance a second stage: a person in the room becomes a face in the television picture.

Give the performance an entrance and an ending

A camera changes what a performer can play with. A greeting, an expression and a bow can all become part of the show. Singing Starz combines that camera idea with karaoke, letting the person singing join the television scene described in the original account.

For a surviving system, an adult should identify the matching instructions and compatible equipment before setting it up. A show can be enjoyed live in the room. Recording is optional and calls for confirmed recording equipment and agreement from everyone appearing.

Rehearse a three-scene show

Fold a paper program into three panels: “Welcome,” “Performance” and “Final bow.” Invent a title, such as The Saturday Window Show, and draw a small stage on the front. Decide who will introduce the performer and who will be the audience.

Rehearse the welcome in your own words. Try looking toward the camera for a greeting, then pause before the musical turn. When the performance ends, add a deliberate closing gesture: a bow, a wave or a spoken thank-you.

Set the microphone down before discussing the three scenes. Which entrance made the show feel inviting? What ending would you try next? Draw the favorite moment in the program and exchange roles. The paper program can hold the memory of the show even when no video is saved.

Toymax’s 2002 Form 10-K confirms Singing Starz Video Karaoke and its built-in camera for showing the performer on television. It is not an operating manual. Exact setup and surviving-unit compatibility were not independently established; the old recording description refers to VHS equipment, not internal storage. Included-song and expansion-cartridge counts remain as originally reported. The rehearsal is an original Toysit activity. No physical testing was performed.
