A puppy gets ready for its big moment

From bath time to the show platform
Mattel’s Stylin’ Pup description gives the set a sequence of transformations. The nozzle uses a bellows action to spray water, warm water changes the puppy’s hair from brown to blonde, and pulling its collar makes it spin. The tub then flips into a grooming platform, with an archway completing the show setting.
A towel, brush and clips provide the little finishing touches. The pretend dryer, shampoo bottle and trophy extend the scene: one object suggests a job, and the next gives the story somewhere to go.
A pup with somewhere to be
The original photograph pairs the puppy’s long golden coat with a bright pink stand. Barbie’s blue top and pink trousers make her part of the colorful setting. Imagine a morning appointment at a tiny salon, followed by a walk across the room to a neighborhood pet show.
Give the puppy a name and a reason to take part. Perhaps it loves greeting visitors, has an especially cheerful tail, or is making its first appearance beside a friend’s toy cat. A show becomes more interesting when each animal brings a different character.
Share the jobs
One player can prepare the puppy while another announces the visitors. Someone else might draw a sign for the show or decide where the audience will sit. Let the doll carry the story from one station to the next: a welcome, a grooming scene and a moment on the podium.
A paper-only version can use a drawn puppy and three places on a sheet. For water play with the original set, have an adult check its condition and guide, and choose a suitable protected surface.
Make a ribbon for every puppy
- Draw a puppy, give it a name and choose one friendly characteristic.
- Make three scene cards: getting ready, meeting the audience and receiving a ribbon.
- Draw a ribbon with a playful title, such as “Warmest Welcome” or “Best Picnic Companion.”
- Tell a short story that shows why your puppy earns it.
- Invite another toy animal and invent a different ribbon for its special moment.
This original activity works with the Barbie set, ordinary toy animals or drawings. The players create the personalities, speeches and awards.
