G.I. Joe Cobra FANG III with C.L.A.W.S.
Explore the Cobra FANG III helicopter and C.L.A.W.S. pilot, then create an airfield of coded landing pads and dispatch messages.

The play at a glance
A little airfield with a very distinctive visitor
The Cobra FANG III has a rounded, snake-like nose, an open cockpit and a rotor spread above its compact body. Its purple-and-gray C.L.A.W.S. pilot gives the vehicle a character to carry. Set beside a few paper landing pads, the pair can become the center of a pretend airfield, with arrivals to announce, routes to choose and messages to deliver.
A cockpit, a pilot and a sound-filled scene
The helicopter’s low body and broad rotor give it a different silhouette from a jet or a wheeled vehicle. In the original picture, the open cockpit makes the pilot’s place easy to spot, while the camouflage and pointed front details give the aircraft its Cobra identity.
Hasbro’s package describes folding rotor blades, a rotor-linked chopper sound and a Sound Attack accessory connection. Those features can provide cues for a scene: a dispatcher announces an arrival, the pilot receives instructions, and the storyteller describes the final approach. Follow the matching product directions for controls and accessories; an adult should handle its small button-cell batteries and keep loose cells away from children.
Try an airfield message board
An original Toysit activity: draw three landing pads on paper, each with a different symbol: a triangle, a wave and a star. Give each pad a job, such as receiving maps, welcoming visitors or collecting a weather report.
- Write a short arrival message: “A map is coming to the triangle.” Let the dispatcher identify the destination and announce a route across the tabletop airfield.
- Add a weather card to the story. Perhaps pretend fog closes one pad, so the dispatcher must send a new message and explain the changed destination.
- Finish with an all-clear announcement. Draw a line on the paper map showing the route and give the journey a title.
Swap pilot and dispatcher roles for a second journey. A paper helicopter works too, and its arrival can be narrated while it rests beside the chosen pad. The inspected toy package marks ages five and up and includes small-parts and projectile guidance; keep the paper dispatch game separate from launcher operation.
The historical record

Deluxe Cobra Fang Vehicle
Cobra is an organization of bad guys against which team Joe must constantly battle. And as long as they have weapons like this fierce-looking helicopter, it should be quite a battle indeed. The Cobra Fang vehicle features spring-loaded missiles that fire and posable guns. Attach the included rocket and hit a button to hear battle sounds or check out the chopping sound made by the rotor blades. A Cobra soldier is included with the set.
Children have a natural fascination with flight and movement, making helicopters a popular accessory for action figures. The thrill of having a toy helicopter that can "swoop in" to rescue action figures or carry out important missions adds a dynamic layer to imaginative play. The rotor blades, the landing skids, and the cockpit become key elements in countless adventure scenarios, from daring rescues to covert spy missions. Helicopters not only expand the spatial dimensions of play but also encourage kids to think creatively about logistics, strategy, and storytelling. The added element of vertical flight opens up new worlds of possibility, making the action figure experience infinitely more exciting and engaging.
Sources and editorial notes
The inspected Hasbro package identifies this as G.I. Joe vs. Cobra FANG III with Cobra C.L.A.W.S.; the older Spy Troops page name remains in the preserved archive and URL. Front and back packaging match the vehicle and pilot and illustrate the sound and folding-rotor features. A complete separate operating sheet was not recovered. Flight here is player-narrated. Historical play-benefit claims remain attributed to the earlier account; no physical testing was performed.
