The play at a glance

The setup is part of the stunt

Mega Chomp is a constructed vehicle stunt with launchers and a large creature-shaped track. Its matching P7937 guide shows the starting positions and identifies the green buttons as launch controls.

Begin with the pictured set on its own. Prepare the sequence, watch what the first launch triggers and reset the parts before trying again.

Prepare the starting positions

Use the P7937 guide’s “To Play” diagram to position the vehicles and set the movable launcher parts. Follow its assembly drawings for the track joins and supports before starting. A completed-looking structure is not necessarily ready for the next run.

Keep the exits clear and look at the whole route. Decide which part you will watch first: the initial launch, the transfer onto the raised path or the final exit. There is no need to follow everything at once.

Launch once and watch the handoff

The guide identifies the green buttons as launch buttons and illustrates the side launcher starting the sequence. Use that documented starting arrangement, then watch how the moving vehicle reaches the next part of the stunt.

Describe the result in order. What moved first? What did it reach? What happened immediately afterward? These questions help separate the action of the launcher from the movement it sets in motion.

Reset before changing anything

After the run ends, collect the vehicles and return the movable parts to the illustrated starting positions. Try the same setup again before changing a join or adding another section. A part that has not been reset can look like a problem with the track.

If the run stops, inspect the last successful handoff and check the next connection against the guide. Do not reach into a moving stunt or stretch the mechanism farther to force a stronger launch.

Add a connection only after the small run works

The guide shows a way to connect other Trick Tracks sets. Treat that as an extension of the working route, and follow the directions for both units. It is not a promise that every Hot Wheels track piece or vehicle will fit this mechanism.

Use the intended vehicle first when checking an older set. Have an adult inspect a worn rubber band and use the P7937 replacement diagram; an arbitrary tighter band changes the mechanism. End the session by returning loose pieces to the set so the next run starts with the right parts.

The historical record

Original Toysit coverage

The original description and Hot Wheels paragraph remain below. The old “shark attack” wording is retained as part of that record; the matching guide depicts the prehistoric creature-shaped Mega Chomp structure. It does not establish the old suggestion that the player must time a move to evade a shark. Its instructions describe a prepared stunt sequence.

Hot wheels track with shark attack

Blast your Hotwheels vehicle through a world of prehistoric stunts, including a giant chomping shark. Each stunt triggers the next obstacle and challenge. The Hot Wheels track set comes with one vehicle, but others will work on it. If you time it right, you can miss getting chomped by the shark, but that will be very challenging.

Hot Wheels not only offer individual cars but also a wide array of playsets, tracks, and accessories. These enable kids to construct their own tracks, loops, and jumps, enhancing the excitement of the racing experience and encouraging imaginative play.

Sources and editorial notes

Reviewed October 15, 2026 against the original image and Mattel’s standalone P7937-0920 Mega Chomp Starter Set guide. Its track, supports and launcher arrangement match the photograph. The larger R1899 Stunt World sheet was a discovery lead, but its additional modules were not treated as this package’s contents. The P7937 guide supports launch/reset positions and adult-supervised rubber-band replacement. No universal Hot Wheels vehicle compatibility or physical testing is claimed.
