The play at a glance

Touch one picture and imagine the next stop

An illustrated globe sits at an angle above a blue-and-white base, with a green pen tethered beside it. Animals and landmarks give the eye places to pause. The Junior Explorer’s play idea is a journey made of small discoveries: turn the globe, choose a picture and listen before choosing where to go next.

A globe with several kinds of invitation

Toysit’s original description names Explore, Search the World, Music and Adventure Rap. Those names suggest different reasons to return to the same object: following curiosity, looking for something, listening to a tune or joining a rhythmic presentation. The manufacturer’s contemporary press material describes continents, oceans, animals, landmarks, languages and regional music among the subjects.

Imagine a shared session in which one player chooses the next place and another asks a question about it. A picture might start a conversation about an animal’s home, a building’s shape or the water between two land areas. Keep a current atlas nearby so an intriguing detail can become a question to investigate together.

Try a two-stop wonder postcard

This original Toysit activity works with the globe or a current atlas. Fold a sheet into a postcard and choose two real places from a checked reference. Give each place half of the card.

  1. Draw one landmark or animal associated with each place, checking the association in your reference.
  2. Write a question beside each drawing. “What is it made from?” or “Where does this animal find food?” can start a small investigation.
  3. Sketch a route between the two places on a separate map, then tell an imaginary travel story that visits both.

Put the facts you checked on the postcard’s front and your invented adventure on its back. Perhaps your travelers are delivering a mysterious invitation or searching for a song. That division leaves room for both accurate observations and a wonderfully unlikely journey.

Whether it's learning the capital of a country, hearing about its native wildlife, or even getting quizzed on geographical locations, the interactive talking globe transforms the learning process into a captivating game. It also has the added benefit of preparing children for a world that's increasingly interconnected, fostering curiosity and a desire to know more about different places and people.
