Little Mommy Shopping Cart
Take a pretend shopping trip with the Little Mommy Shopping Cart, explore its removable basket and doll seat, and draw a three-item list.

The play at a glance
A picture list starts a small shopping adventure
The Little Mommy Shopping Cart has a yellow handle, a pink basket and a blue seat for a doll to join the trip. Pretend food and a small toy phone sit beside it in the original photograph. These familiar pieces suggest a story with a destination: choose a few things, find them in the store and bring them home.
A basket and seat with a second role
Mattel describes a removable basket and a removable doll seat that becomes a feeding seat. That lets the story move from the pretend store to an imagined meal. The basket carries the purchases; the doll has a place to sit while the player arranges the next scene.
The C0445 cart instruction sheet shows how the pieces fit together and detach. It specifies adult assembly and illustrates a fourteen-inch doll in the seat. The seat and cart are doll-play accessories; keep children’s bodies outside them.
Choose the assortment that matches the set
Mattel’s C0442 record lists the cart, pretend groceries, phone and removable pieces, with the doll sold separately. The C0445 gift set adds a doll in a pink outfit and matching headband. The product records also show different cart colors.
Compare an existing set’s product number and pieces with its own instructions. The phone can supply a little story moment: perhaps someone at home calls to ask for one more pretend item, or the shopper checks a list before reaching the counter.
Make the store feel like a place
Three drawn shelves are enough to begin. Give one shelf fruit, another vegetables and another an imagined picnic treat. A second player can welcome the shopper, help find an item and ask where the picnic will take place.
At checkout, the shopper can describe each choice. A yellow fruit might be for a sunny-day picnic; a green vegetable might belong in a pretend soup. The trip gains a purpose beyond filling the basket.
Make a three-item picture list
- Draw three pretend groceries on a paper list.
- Arrange matching drawings or play food into a tiny store.
- Choose a shopper, a doll companion and a shopkeeper.
- Find each item and invent a checkout conversation.
- Tell what the characters make when they get home.
This original activity uses pretend groceries and player-created dialogue. Paper groceries can stay beside the toy as scene-setting pictures.

Includes play food, baby seat, and pretend cell phone to check doll house list items
Girls will love playing mommy with this adorable toy. Perfect for a day of shopping fun, it comes with lots of pretend food, a special seat for baby, and a removable basket. The baby seat is also removable and can be used as a booster seat for feeding baby. And there is even a pretend cell phone to double check on items on the shopping list.
Children often find joy in mimicking adult activities, and grocery shopping is no exception. Playsets that include shopping carts, play money, and miniature grocery items allow kids to engage in a form of imaginative role-play that feels grown-up and practical. Pushing a tiny shopping cart through imaginary aisles and selecting 'products' to purchase helps children learn about decision-making, budgeting, and even basic math skills as they 'pay' for their items. Additionally, these playsets can help familiarize children with different types of foods, encouraging conversations about nutrition and meal planning. The act of playing 'shop' also boosts social skills like negotiation, sharing, and courtesy, particularly if they are playing with siblings or friends. Overall, such playsets offer an entertaining and educational experience that can also serve as a stepping stone to understanding real-world responsibilities.
