Rainbow Horse and Princess Barbie
Explore Rainbow Horse, the tiny winged Sprinkles and Princess Barbie as a traveling story cast, then draw a three-stop cloud-country map.

The play at a glance
A princess, a winged horse and a tiny traveler
A princess in a bright pink gown sits on a pale horse with soft wings. Beside them stands a much smaller winged companion, Sprinkles. The photograph gathers a whole traveling party into one scene: a rider with a destination, a horse to carry her and a tiny friend who can tuck into a special pocket along the way.
Help Rainbow travel through the clouds
The horse guide shows the player supporting Rainbow underneath and moving her back and forth so the wings flutter. A holder at the saddle accommodates a doll’s legs for a side-saddle ride. The motion is part of carrying the characters through their imagined world.
Try beginning with a message from a castle in the clouds. Perhaps the princess is bringing a drawing to a friend, and Sprinkles knows a short route past a rainbow bridge. One player moves Rainbow while another narrates the changing view below.
A pocket gives Sprinkles a place in the journey
A saddle pocket beneath the wing holds the small horse. Taking Sprinkles out at a stopping place creates a second scale of adventure: the little companion might inspect a flower doorway or greet a tiny resident while the larger travelers wait.
The original design also gave Sprinkles a refillable compartment for scattering glitter, illustrated in the guide. For the paper adventure below, draw the sparkling trail directly on the map.
The retained photograph includes the princess, both horses and grooming accessories. That grouping suggests time before departure, too: prepare the travelers, choose a route and decide who is carrying the invitation.
Draw a three-stop cloud map
- Draw three large clouds on paper and name each destination.
- Connect them with a dotted sparkle trail.
- Add a small doorway or garden at one stop for the tiny companion to explore.
- Choose a reason for the journey, such as delivering an invitation.
- Move dolls, toy horses or drawn characters along the route, telling what they find.
This original Toysit activity turns differences in character size into story opportunities. Let another player add a fourth cloud for a return visit.
The historical record
Original Toysit coverage
The original toy description and broader play discussion are preserved below as historical coverage.
Barbie rainbow horse is beautiful.
Barbie doll wears a beautiful pink satin ball gown with golden accented tulle sleeves and overskirt. She also has a beautiful crown. Princess Barbie doll is easy to dress and has molded on shoes for younger girls. Rainbow is a Barbie doll sized horse with a pearlized body and beautiful fabric wings that flap when the horse is lifted up and down. Sprinkles is a minature horse with wings perfectly sized to fit inside a pocket underneath Rainbow's wing. Sprinkles has a refilable body with small holes in the belly to sprinkle glitter. Sprinkles has a beautiful mane and tail with a touch of sparkle. Rainbow is decorated with rich jewels and an elegant saddle bridle and blanket.
Rainbows have a near-magical allure that captivates children's imaginations and curiosity. The spectacle of a rainbow appearing after a rain shower is like nature's own art show, painting the sky with vibrant hues. The colors are not only beautiful to look at but also provide an excellent opportunity for children to learn about the spectrum of light. The mysterious, fleeting nature of rainbows adds an element of surprise and discovery, making each sighting a special event. Often associated with positive stories, folklore, and even treasures—think pots of gold at the end of the rainbow—these natural phenomena spark creativity and wonder. Whether it's drawing rainbows, seeking them out in the sky, or simply enjoying their multi-colored beauty, the appeal of rainbows to children seems to be a combination of natural curiosity, the joy of discovery, and the simple pleasure of experiencing something extraordinarily beautiful.
Sources and editorial notes
Both pages of Mattel’s 23892 Rainbow Horse & Sprinkles guide were reviewed. Its horse, wings and small companion correspond to the original scene; the guide specifies Princess Barbie as separately sold for that horse release. The proposed 24640 combined-package lead remains unconfirmed, so the retained photograph documents the pictured grouping while the guide supports the horse mechanisms. Princess outfit details remain in the original account. The cloud-map activity is original; no physical testing was performed.
