SpongeBob SquarePants Singing Machine
Meet the SpongeBob SME-131 CD karaoke cabinet and invent a short undersea radio interlude with announcements, gentle rhythms and friendly handovers.

The play at a glance
SpongeBob becomes the stage
SpongeBob’s large eyes and broad smile fill the front of this yellow CD karaoke cabinet. Red controls sit on top, a blue microphone rests at the side, and the speaker area below carries his familiar shirt-and-tie design. The machine looks like a cheerful stage partner before anyone begins a song.
A character-shaped performance corner
The microphone and bright cabinet invite a performer to step forward, introduce a tune and take a turn in front of an audience. The original SME-131 box calls it a CD karaoke machine and shows the same blue microphone, smiling face and red tie as Toysit’s photograph. Its character design makes even a spoken announcement feel like part of a show.
Imagine a small performance corner for Bikini Bottom. A player might announce the next act, supply a friendly greeting or invent a tiny weather report between songs. A second player can be the audience, the next announcer or the person holding a paper program.
Try an undersea radio interlude
This original Toysit activity uses your own words and a gentle, self-made rhythm. It works as a spoken performance with a drawn microphone.
- Name the station: choose a fictional name and draw its sign. “Shell Street Radio” might broadcast from an imaginary shop window.
- Write two lines: make one cheerful weather observation and one invitation. For example: “Clouds shaped like shells drift past the square. The afternoon story club is meeting there.”
- Add an interlude: softly tap a simple rhythm on your own knees between the lines. Let the words remain easy to hear.
- Hand over the show: introduce the next announcer by a pretend station name. That person changes one detail in the report and adds a new invitation.
Try the report once as a calm morning announcement and once as an excited festival preview. Keep the words the same and explore how pacing changes the scene. A listener can draw a postcard of the place the announcement brought to mind.
Keep the performance comfortable
Use a normal speaking voice for the paper version. If an adult has identified and checked a working machine against its own instructions, keep amplified sound at a comfortable level and take turns. Hold the microphone by its body, place it down gently and keep its cord clear of walking routes.
Singing Machine’s current support directory is the route for checking a model-specific guide. The cabinet’s historical appeal is easy to carry into a simple living-room performance while any questions about an older unit’s operation are resolved.
