Wiggly Safari — The Wiggles
Wiggly Safari’s animal-themed song list and Steve Irwin cover appearance inspire an original paper-animal radio studio.

The play at a glance
An animal visitor for every announcement
Steve Irwin appears above The Wiggles on the green Wiggly Safari cover, setting up an animal-themed outing. The archived titles offer a lively cast for the imagination: an owl, a camel, an emu, a dingo and a koala. Each name could become the next visitor to a tiny make-believe radio station.A program of animal names and imagined places
“Do the Owl,” “Wobbly Camel” and “Koala La La” are among the titles in Toysit’s original list. They can prompt pictures and invented characters before or after listening. A drawing might show an owl arriving with a suitcase or a camel looking for the studio door; those details belong to your story.
Irwin’s appearance connects the cover to the wildlife television work described in Australia Zoo’s biography. The paper activity below keeps the adventure in an invented studio. Use drawings and pretend voices for the guests, and leave real wildlife undisturbed.
Open an imaginary animal radio studio
Draw three large animal cards and a microphone on paper. Put the microphone picture in the middle of the table. One person is the announcer; another chooses the first guest and gives it a name.
The announcer welcomes the guest and asks an invented question: “What did you bring for our studio picnic?” The guest answers in a made-up voice and adds a gesture. A camel might present an enormous imaginary hat; an owl might have a letter from the moon. Treat the voices and answers as make-believe, rather than animal facts.
Swap the roles for the next card. Between guests, invent a two-second station signal using a hum, a gentle tap or a spoken station name. Give every visitor a chance to speak, then close the program with an announcement of tomorrow’s imaginary guest.
Draw the studio’s visitor book
Make a little page for each character: its name, its picture and the surprising thing it brought. The book becomes a record of your own safari through invented stories, ready for a new broadcast whenever another animal joins the cast.

Steve Irwin, the exuberant Australian animal expert known as the Crocodile Hunter, became a beloved icon due to his infectious enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation. As host of popular TV programs like The Crocodile Hunter and The Croc Files, Irwin introduced audiences to the wonders of reptiles and animals both ferocious and friendly.
What made Irwin so endearing was his visible passion for even the most dangerous creatures coupled with a down-to-earth personality. Though he wrestled crocodiles and encountered venomous snakes, his message was always one of protection, not fear. Irwin modeled respect and care, believing education was key to coexistence with wildlife. His "Crikey!" catchphrase and daring hands-on approach made him hugely entertaining. But it was Irwin's spirit of exploration, humor, and genuine love for animals both great and small that connected so strongly with audiences worldwide. That joyful spirit not only brought conservation into mainstream awareness but made Steve Irwin a true icon beloved by generations.
