Amazing Maddie

The play at a glance
A colorful companion for an artist’s outing
Maddie wears a bright pink vest over a flower-patterned top, with a beret above her curls and colorful trim around her trouser legs. A little camera and pink Creative Padd sit among her accessories. Her look brings together dressing up, making things and imagining places to visit.
Picture cards give a choice a shape
Maddie’s printed cards organize subjects into small groups of choices. The Arts ’n Crafts card pictures materials such as clay, paint and sticks. A fashion game card separates color, pattern, shoes, top and bottom. Other cards cover music, dates and a character story.
That makes the Creative Padd a visible part of the conversation: a player has pictures and words to choose among. The original Toysit account describes selecting responses through the pad. Use the matching supplied cards and guide for an existing set.
A camera, a project book and a change of clothes
The packaging presents Maddie responding to clothing and accessories, including a camera and hair decorations. It also shows a player drawing in a project book beside her. Together, these objects suggest an afternoon that moves between looking, choosing and making.
Imagine that Maddie is visiting a tiny art fair. A player might draw the stalls, choose a color for a poster and invent a souvenir from the visit. The camera can have a role in the pretend outing, while the drawings record the scenes the player creates.
Give the outing three different views
Try choosing a place, a color and a keepsake. The place might be a seaside café, the color a blue tablecloth, and the keepsake a picture of a shell. Each choice adds a concrete detail to the same adventure.
Another player could contribute a second destination with a very different palette. Place the drawings beside one another and let the characters explain what caught their attention. A short description under each sketch turns the pages into a miniature exhibition.
Draw an artist’s travel journal
- Fold a sheet into three spaces.
- In the first, sketch a place your character visits.
- In the second, draw something there in a favorite color.
- In the third, invent a souvenir and give it a name.
- Tell the story of the outing while showing the three pictures.
This original activity uses ordinary drawing materials. Keep these journal pages beside the toy as story prompts.

Amazing Ally's best friend.
Meet Ally's way-cool best friend Amazing Maddie. Maddie is the next generation of 'smart dolls' and employs Playmate's interactive technology. Maddie has a 'today' attitude as she is savvy with today's fashion and trends and is very creative and artistic. Amazing Maddie includes an Arts 'n Crafts Adventure Ware cartridge, 9 set-up cards, 4 story/game cards, a Creative Padd, funky outfit, interactive accessories such as a 35 mm play camera, bagel, travel mug, hair brush, cute flower and dragonfly barrettes, and a project book. Already friends with Ally, she will be your best friend too.
Maddie can play and interact with you in exciting new ways! Just put one of her story or game cards in her Creative Padd and she'll take you on an arts 'n crafts or fashion adventure! (I love to be creative with you gal pal!). You probably already know her tea drinkin', cheerleadin' best friend, Amazing Ally. Well, this chickadee wants to be your child's friend, too. Amazing Maddie is Ally's new, hip best friend. Maddie uses the same technology that has made Ally a toy wonder, but has a personality that appeals to a totally different type of child. You'll find that out when you hear her talk (That's ultra!), check out her luxurious brown hair and green eyes, and envy her funky clothes (which electronically compel voice responses).
Maddie is keen on expressing her interests and opinions, and, before you know it, quiet, timid children will be talking their heads off, too! Maddie keeps a volume of ready stories behind her earthy animatronic lips. She remembers favorite dates and places and loyally keeps secrets. She even has goodies for her new human friend: a child-sized friendship bracelet and a project book they can use together. She's an amazing pal with an edgy Y2K attitude--she even eats bagels! Parental guidance is necessary, initially, to program Maddie's memory and understand the functions of various buttons.
