Bratz Stylin’ Portable CD Player
An open white CD player frames a reflective disc, with an original three-scene listening postcard that turns music into drawn places.

The play at a glance
One chosen disc, three imagined places
A reflective disc fills the open white shell of the Bratz portable CD player. The raised lid makes the disc look almost like a tiny round stage, catching blue and green in the photograph. Choosing a recording can be the beginning of another kind of scene: a place imagined while listening, then saved in a few lines and colors on paper.
Listen for a place you could draw
Imagine a familiar piece of music as the soundtrack to a small journey. Its opening might suggest a quiet doorway; a lively middle might become a busy harbor; the ending might feel like reaching a garden gate. These places are choices made by the listener, and another listener may picture an entirely different route.
Start with a recording you already know, played at a comfortable level on suitable equipment. A short original tune hummed aloud works too. Decide whether your journey follows a character, a changing landscape or simply three colors.
Draw a three-scene listening postcard
Divide a sheet of paper into three panels labeled “Beginning,” “Middle” and “Ending.” Listen once or hum your tune, then choose a place for each panel. Use a different main color in each scene. A yellow window, a blue harbor and a green gate can suggest a whole trip with only a few marks.
Give each scene an invented title: “The Door Opens,” “Boats at Noon” and “Home by the Garden.” Add one tiny detail that travels through all three pictures, such as a red scarf or a star-shaped sign. That repeating detail gives a companion something to look for.
Share the postcard and describe the journey in three sentences. Ask your companion which scene they would visit first. For a second version, keep the music and change the traveler, or keep the pictures and hum a new tune. The titles and story are yours; the activity needs no copied song lyrics.
Keep the drawing beside the music
Use separate paper for the artwork, leaving discs and equipment unmarked. Before operating an older player, have an adult match its model and condition to the correct instructions. The postcard can also be made from remembered or imagined music, with the old player simply providing the visual starting point.

Sources and editorial notes
The original photograph shows the open white player and three front sockets. A collector-hosted Electric Funk package photograph shows a white Stylin’ CD Player with a decorated lid and headphones, supporting the design family. A recovered Bratz portable-player control sheet shows a different top layout and two labeled headphone sockets; it is not an exact match and its connection or charging instructions were not transferred. The earlier 45-second anti-skip, equalizer, three-listener and power claims remain historical specifications. The postcard is an original Toysit activity; no physical or audio testing was performed.
