The play at a glance

An orange jet carries the beginning of a holiday

Polly stands beside an orange airplane with magenta wings, a matching tail and a row of dark passenger windows. Her purple suitcase gives the scene a clear starting point: someone is packed and ready to go. The Groovy Getaway Jet carries both the journey and pieces for the destination.

Open the cabin and give the passengers a place

The guide shows the side of the aircraft lifting to reveal its interior, with the front opening outward and the rear compartment becoming an entrance with steps. Seats, luggage and a food cart provide small details around which a player can organize a flight.

A host might greet Polly at the steps, find a place for her suitcase and offer an imaginary snack from the cart. The cart has its own storage space at the back of the plane. Giving each object a job helps the cabin feel busy as the passengers settle in.

The movie screen becomes the destination

One of the set’s distinctive transformations is its removable movie-screen piece. The instructions show it becoming a little island, with a sliding beach section and a palm tree. The aircraft seats become beach chairs, carrying part of the cabin into the holiday scene.

That change gives a story a visible arrival. Imagine that the passengers have watched a picture of their destination during the trip; now they can step into a miniature version of it. Polly’s puppy could be the first to discover a shady spot while another traveler writes a greeting home.

Make a three-part boarding pass

  1. Divide a paper ticket into departure, journey and arrival.
  2. Name an imaginary island and draw its landmark.
  3. Choose a passenger and an onboard greeting.
  4. Add one thing the passenger hopes to do after landing.
  5. Tell the trip using the ticket, then draw a postcard from the destination.

This original activity works with paper passengers and a drawn aircraft. For an existing B2627 jet, follow the illustrated guide when opening panels and fitting its accessories.
