Explore Puppy Magic’s mother dog, three hand-animated puppies and feeding accessories, with an original family-story activity.

The play at a glance
A whole puppy family to look after
Puppy Magic puts a mother dog and her three puppies at the center of a busy little household. The mother answers close encounters with sounds, while a squeeze gives each small puppy its own action. Feeding, greetings and bedtime make a ready-made rhythm for a family story.
Meet the three puppies
A squeeze of the belly makes each puppy perform a characteristic action. The guide pairs the ear-wiggling puppy with a squeaky ball, the tail-wagging puppy with a bone, and the sniffing puppy with a scented toy slipper. Those little pairings give each member of the family something recognizable to do.
Bring a puppy close to the front of the mother’s muzzle and she responds with a bark. The guide describes a different whine for each puppy as it is moved away. The player arranges these meetings, choosing who comes forward and whose turn follows.
From feeding time to bedtime
The mother’s heart-shaped side buttons provide nursing sounds when touched by a puppy’s nose. Her feeding dish supports another scene: bringing her muzzle near it produces drinking and crunching sounds. Presenting all three puppies in turn leads into the guide’s bedtime sequence, ending with a goodnight bark and snoring.
The result is a playset with several small encounters to arrange. Imagine one puppy arriving eagerly for supper, another showing off the ball, and the third needing one last greeting before bed. Names, personalities and conversations come from the storyteller.
Set out a little household
Toysit’s photograph groups the family around a yellow dish and bright accessories. A clear patch of floor or a tabletop story space can become their home. Place the dish in a feeding corner, give the puppies a meeting spot, and decide where the family will settle at the end of the day.
When bringing an older set back into use, match its parts to the 33540 guide. The mother, three puppies and feeding dish form the interaction system; the other accessories provide props for grooming, play and rest.
Tell a three-puppy story
- Draw a mother dog and three puppies on separate cards.
- Give each puppy a name, a favorite object and an action you can act out.
- Make three places on paper: the meeting spot, the supper corner and the sleeping area.
- Move each puppy to the mother for a greeting, then choose a scene for it to join.
- Finish with one line from each puppy about its day.
You move the characters and perform their responses in this original paper game. A second player can speak for the mother while you introduce each puppy.
The historical record
Original Toysit coverage
The original Puppy Magic description is preserved below, including its account of the mother and her three puppies.
Mom doggy interacts with her three puppies.
When one of her curly haired pups comes near, Mama Spaniel barks a little song (a different one for each pup). Take the puppies away, and you'll hear her realistic whine. Put her bowl in front of her, and listen to her lap up water or wolf down nibblets. Press the puppies to the plastic hearts on Mama's side, then listen to them nurse. Though the puppies don't talk, they do each have a special talent: a tail to wag, an ear to lift, or a leg to shake. They come with their own toys: a chewable slipper, a squeaky ball, and a plastic bone. Mama Spaniel is about 15 inches long, while each puppy is about 3 inches long. Their soft fur is surface washable.
Robotic dogs that can interact with each other offer a whole new dimension of play and learning for children. Unlike traditional toys, these advanced playmates can simulate social behaviors, making the interaction much more engaging and realistic. When two or more of these robotic dogs are in the same environment, they can communicate, follow each other, and even 'play,' mimicking the dynamics of real-life canine friendships. This feature not only multiplies the fun but also teaches children about social interaction, empathy, and the importance of companionship. It also introduces them to basic concepts of robotics and programming, sparking interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The unpredictable nature of the dogs' interactions keeps playtime fresh and exciting, encouraging kids to explore the full range of functionalities that these tech-savvy pets offer.
Sources and editorial notes
The Toy Biz instructions for assortment 33540 were reviewed as a complete four-panel sheet in a one-page PDF filed with the FCC, hosted by FCCID.io. The sheet pictures the mother-and-three-puppies sets and identifies ear-wiggling, tail-wagging and sniffing actions; the historical paragraph uses a different leg-shaking description. The new profile follows the guide’s action list. The paper family game is an original editorial activity. This profile draws on documents and the original image; physical testing was outside the renovation.
