The play at a glance

A tiny raft at the top of a fish-shaped slide

A cheerful blue fish marks the start of Kelly’s waterslide. Below its open mouth, a long translucent blue chute curves toward the water. Kelly sits in a pink raft, while an orange pump and its hose wait beside the slide. The scene is easy to picture: a little rider at the top, a flow of water and a raft on its way down.

The player supplies the water

Mattel describes water being pumped by hand to the slide, letting Kelly travel down on her raft. That gives the player a visible role in the action: the doll is the passenger, the raft is her little boat and the pump supplies water for the trip.

The original Toysit account identifies the orange piece as a starfish-shaped pump and describes Kelly’s blonde pigtails and yellow-and-pink swimsuit. Those seaside details make a compact setting. Imagine the fish at the top as the splash park’s greeter, announcing each rider’s name before the next trip.

Give the ride a beginning and an ending

A short story can begin before Kelly reaches the slide. A player might welcome her at an imaginary entrance, ask which ride she wants to try and give her a pretend ticket. After the raft’s trip, Kelly could report her favorite moment to a waiting friend.

Mattel specifies adult supervision whenever this water toy is used. An adult should prepare the set using its original directions. The activity below gives the same small-park story a paper setting, with room for a welcoming sign and an invented ride name.

Name a miniature splash park

  1. Draw a sign for a splash park and give its fish-shaped slide a name.
  2. Sketch a start, a curving route and a landing pool on a sheet of paper.
  3. Draw a raft and a rider, or choose a small figure to travel along the dry paper route.
  4. Invent the fish greeter’s announcement and the rider’s reply.
  5. Add a second visitor who has a different favorite part of the trip.

This original Toysit activity uses a tabletop drawing. The player moves the raft and supplies the splashes, greetings and conversations in the story.

Splish, splash. Barbie's little sister Kelly is sliding in the bath! Included in this fun set are a small Kelly doll, a pink raft, and an inflatable light blue waterslide--with a fish head at the top--that attaches via suction cups to the wall above a bathtub. An orange starfish-shaped pump causes water from the tub to move up into the fish's mouth, sending Kelly down the slide. At 4 inches tall, Kelly has blue eyes and two blonde pigtails. Wearing a yellow swimsuit fringed with a pink skirt, she's ready to get wet. Because it's designed for use in the bathtub, this toy requires adult supervision Kelly doll can slide down her inflatable water slide and float around on her raft. The fish friend has suction cups, so it can attach to the side of a bathtub of shower. When a girl pumps the starfish underwater, Super Slide Kelly doll slides down the water slide on her raft. The raft really floats, so Kelly can also play in the water on her raft. Catch a wave with Barbie's little sister Kelly. You can make a slide from any sink or bathtub. Just attach the inflatable slide to the wall using suction cups. Add a little water and Kelly goes sliding down the hill. What fun. When she's tired of sliding, this water baby can relax on her raft.

A slide playset for dolls is a delightful addition to imaginative play. Children can have endless fun as they send their dolls down the miniature slide, creating thrilling adventures and scenarios. This accessory sparks creativity and encourages storytelling, allowing kids to invent exciting narratives for their dolls. It also promotes fine motor skills as they position the dolls on the slide and send them on their way. Plus, it's an opportunity for children to engage in cooperative play with friends or siblings, enhancing their social skills. Whether it's a doll playground or a backyard adventure, a slide playset brings an extra layer of joy to doll playtime, fostering both imaginative and active play.

Mattel’s 24645 Super Slide Kelly record and small manufacturer image were reviewed alongside the original Toysit photograph. The record confirms hand-pumped water, the raft and fish-headed slide, and requires adult supervision. A complete matching instruction sheet was not located; the profile therefore describes the documented play pattern, with attachment details retained in the historical coverage. The paper splash-park activity is original. No physical testing was performed.
