XaviX Baseball
Meet XaviX Baseball’s bat and ball controllers, then make a two-panel dugout story between innings. Original coverage and image preserved.

The play at a glance
A ballpark with two familiar shapes
A black bat, a gray grip and a white ball with red stitching give XaviX Baseball an immediately recognizable cast. The television supplies the field; the shaped controllers give pitching and batting their own objects to hold. A player watching a close inning can imagine the dugout chatter that follows each turn.
Two sides of an inning
The bat’s long dark barrel and the ball’s stitched pattern make a useful pair: one suggests the moment before a swing, the other the moment before a pitch. The SSD guide describes a ball controller for pitching and a bat controller for batting. The physical controllers stay in the player’s hands, including during a virtual pitch.
For an existing set, match the cartridge and regional guide before use. Follow its assembly, grip, wrist-strap, clearance and television-connection instructions; a strap does not replace keeping hold of a controller. The game’s equipment is part of a XaviXPORT system. Keep the drawing materials for the activity below away from the active play area.
Try a dugout decision
This original Toysit activity gives the team a little story between innings. At a break, set both controllers down and fold a sheet of paper into two panels. Label one What we saw and the other What our team imagines.
- In the first panel, draw one moment you actually noticed: a ball crossing the plate, a runner waiting, or the scoreboard changing. Add a short factual caption.
- In the second, invent a response from the dugout. Perhaps a teammate offers a lucky sandwich, the mascot practices a tiny celebration, or the coach points toward a cloud shaped like a glove.
- Let a partner give the coach one sentence. “Watch for your moment” and “We can try again” make different endings to the same drawing.
- Trade the two roles for the next card. Give the little collection a team name and arrange it like pages from a season scrapbook.
A paper ballpark works too. Draw the first moment together, then take turns inventing what happens beside the field. The team conversations and scrapbook are player-created additions.
Listen for the small story
One player might remember the score while another remembers the pause before the pitch. Put both memories on the page. A narrow win, a missed chance or an ordinary turn can each become an interesting chapter when the team has a voice.

Sources and editorial notes
The SSD Baseball guide transcript identifies PT1-BBL-B2, a North American revision; the pictured cartridge label is unavailable. Its text assigns pitching to the ball and batting to the bat, clarifying the older paragraph’s bat-for-pitching wording. Full diagrams were not recovered. Nine pitch types appear in that revision, with availability varying by pitcher; older mode names remain attributed historical claims. The six-part game-history survey is preserved commentary, not a newly verified chronology. No physical testing or recall clearance is claimed.
